This misfortune has continued now for ten years." THE PURPLE CLOUD ROLLS INTO TOWN AND THE TOWNSPEOPLE RUN FOR SAFETY. SHU RUNS IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION, TOWARDS THE CLOUD. Townsperson: The Land Shark is coming! Townsperson: Hurry to the shelter! Shu's Grandfather: Shu! Where are you? He... he wouldn't...! THE TOWNSPEOPLE, GATHERED AT THE SHELTER, PRAY FOR SAFETY AS THE GROUND SWELLS AND THE LAND SHARK'S FIN CUTS THROUGH THE SAND, DESTROYING ANYTHING IN ITS PATH. (As Shu's grandfather, Fushira, talk to the people gathered around.) Toyote: Spirits of the land, please calm your anger... Elder Koppose: Fushira, relax. In a time like this, us older guys need to keep our composure. Fushira: I'm looking for Shu. I have no time to relax. Besides, why don't you take your own advice and sit down. Balt: Fushira, looks like we have another mess on our hands again this year. Fushira: Balt, you haven't seen Shu, have you? Balt: Your grandson? Now that you mention it, I guess I haven't. Why don't you ask around a bit more? Lao: There's nobody left below. Everyone made it to safety. Fushira: Hmm... I can't seem to find my grandson, Shu. Lao: Shu? He must be around here somewhere. Try asking other people. Jiro's Mother: It's been like this the last ten years. Fushira: You haven't seen Shu around, have you? Jiro's Mother: Shu is missing? Our Jiro is also off somewhere. Jiro's Father: We have no choice but to be patient. If we wait here long enough, the Land Shark will eventually go away. Fushira: You haven't seen Shu, have you? Jiro's Father: Your grandson, Shu? I haven't seen him, but our son Jiro is also missing. Fana: How long is this misery going to continue? Landan: It's destroyed everything. Fushira: Landan, pull yourself together. For your newborn daughter's sake at least. Landan: That's right! I have to protect my family. Laala: (baby sounds) Fushira: Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to startle her. Lailala: Don't worry about it, Fushira. Did I hear that Shu is missing? I'm sure he's hiding somewhere safe. Shifer: I won't let the Land Shark get my dog! I'm gonna hold him real tight. (After talking to everybody...) Lao: Hey! Down there! Who is that? Baruto: Fushira, isn't that your grandson? Fushira: What? Shu!? THE LAND SHARK SMASHES ANOTHER HOUSE AS SHU APPROACHES IT, SWORD AT HIS SIDE. Shu: Come and get me, Land Shark! You're mine! (Approach the Land Shark.) JIRO APPEARS FROM BEHIND A BUSH. Jiro: Shu, it's all up to you. Everything's ready on this side. Do it just like we planned. Shu: All right, got it! Jiro's Mother: Jiro! Jiro's Father: What do they think they're doing? Jiro: Father! Mother! Watch! We're gonna get rid of the Land Shark! Jiro's Mother: What are you talking about? Jiro's Father: Stop it! Come back! You can't possibly stop a monster like that. Fushira: Shu... Shu: We won't know if we can or can't unless we try! (Fight the Land Shark.) Shu: Damn! It's skin is too hard. Jiro: Shu, do you see that red light in the left side? Aim for that! (Aim for the red light.) SHU'S SWORD BREAKS IN HALF AND HE FALLS TO THE GROUND. Jiro: Shu, relax! If you don't follow the plan, it's all for nothing. Shu: You'll never beat me. SHU STANDS UP AND THE LAND SHARK RACES TOWARDS HIM. Jiro: What are you doing? Hurry up and run! SHU PULLS OUT A SHORT KNIFE. Jiro: What do you THINK you're going to do with that tiny little thing? Shu, hurry up and run! Shu: I'm not running away. I can't rest until I make at least a scratch on this thing. Ahhhhhhh!! SHU RUNS, KNIFE DRAWN, AT THE LAND SHARK. KLUKE, HIDING IN THE BUSHES, THROWS SOMETHING AT THE LAND SHARK, DISTRACTING IT AND MAKING IT CHASE HER INSTEAD. Shu: Kluke? (Talk to Jiro) Jiro: Shu, we have to do it just like we planned. You get close to the front of the Land Shark and then lure him over here. It's dangerous if you're slow getting out of the way, but I know you can do it! Shu: Hey, leave it to me! Jiro: What about Kluke? Shu: Kluke, go back. Kluke: Is that how you talk to someone who saved your hide? Shu: It's dangerous here. Kluke: But, I want to avenge my parent's deaths. (Talk to Kluke) Kluke: Shu, I know it's dangerous being the bait, but hang in there! (Approach the Land Shark) THE LAND SHARK MAKES A BEELINE FOR SHU. Shu: It's coming! Kluke: Got it! Jiro: We're ready! JIRO AND KLUKE CUT TWO ROPES, MAKING A HUGE NET POP UP FROM THE SAND. THE LAND SHARK GETS CAUGHT IN THE NET AND IMPALES ITSELF ON SOME WOODEN STAKES. IT STOPS. Shu: So, Land Shark, it's time to make your peace with the world because I'm gonna fillet ya! (Talk to Kluke) Kluke: Thank you, Shu! I'm sure my mom and dad are looking down on us with joy. (Talk to Jiro) Jiro: Nice job, Shu! Let's get a closer look at it. APPROACH THE LAND SHARK AND THE TREES SUPPORTING THE NET BREAK AND THE SHARK PRESSES FORWARD. Shu: Don't let it get away! SHU GRABS PART OF THE NET AND GETS DRAGGED BEHIND THE LAND SHARK. Kluke: You're crazy! JIRO GRABS SHU AND KLUKE GRABS ONTO JIRO AND ALL THREE OF THEM ARE PULLED BEHIND THE LAND SHARK. Fushira: Shu! Jiro's Father: Jiro! MEANWHILE, BEHIND THE LAND SHARK... Shu: Stop already! Jiro: Kluke, don't worry about us. Let go! Kluke: If I let go of you here I'll die. THE LAND SHARK APPROACHES A HUGE HOLE IN THE GROUND AND SHU, JIRO AND KLUKE ARE PULLED DOWN INTO IT. ========================================================================== Ancient Ruins Cavern - bd002 ========================================================================== (Approach Jiro and Kluke) Shu: Jiro... Kluke... KLUKE AND JIRO STAND UP. Kluke: Where are we? Shu: Are you both OK? Kluke: I think so. Jiro: What about the Land Shark? Shu: Don't worry. It looks all banged up. Jiro: Shu, this is... Shu: Yeah, the ancient ruins. Kluke: Ancient ruins? Shu: Jiro and I are always exploring around here. That net was made from metal we found in the ruins. Jiro: That's right. Kluke: Wait, I thought that the ruins were off limits. Shu: That's what makes it fun! Kluke: Jiro, if you insist on following Shu around like this, you're gonna need more lives. Jiro: But, I wanted to kill the Land Shark... for you, Kluke. Kluke: Really? Jiro: Um, well, yeah, for you and the other people in the village. Many people lost their families to the Land Shark. I couldn't justify always running away and hiding. Shu didn't make me do this. It was my idea. Kluke: Sorry, I didn't know... But, I just wish you had included me in your plan from the start. Shu: It doesn't matter now. We three stopped the Land Shark! Kluke: Just for a moment, though. Jiro: There might have been some errors in my calculations. Shu: Kluke, watch what you say. Kluke: Sorry. Shu: Jiro, you and I have been all over the ruins, but I'm pretty sure we've never been here before. Jiro: I think there are probably a lot of places we haven't been to yet. It's not so strange, I guess. JIRO AND KLUKE JOINED YOUR PARTY. (Fight the snake creature.) AFTER THE BATTLE... Shu: What was that? Jiro: I've never seen a monster like that before. Kluke: We're pretty far underground, aren't we? Jiro: We have to find a way out. (Walk around and explore the cavern) (Check the treasure chest surrounded by a blue field...) Shu: Jiro, any idea what this is? Jiro: Hmmm, I've never seen anything like this before. Kluke: Jiro, finding a way out of here is our main priority. Jiro: Ok, sorry Kluke. (Keep exploring and opening up treasure chests until one appears in the middle. Open it.) THE GROUND SHAKES AS THE LAND SHARK RISES FROM UNDER THE SAND. IT SHAKES OFF ITS ROCK EXTERIOR TO REVEAL AN AIRCRAFT UNDERNEATH. Kluke: The Land Shark is... AS THE LAND SHARK RISES FURTHER INTO THE AIR, THEY REALIZE THAT THEY ARE STANDING ON IT. IT TAKES THEM UP, BUT KLUKE LOSES HER BALANCE AND FALLS OFF. SHU REACHES AND CATCHES HER. THE LAND SHARK GOES OUT THE OPENING IN THE ROOF OF THE CAVERN. Shu: What's going on? THE LAND SHARK PASSES THROUGH THE PURPLE CLOUD AND ENTERS A FLOATING AIR STATION, THE GIANT MECHAT. ========================================================================== Giant Mechat - bd003 ========================================================================== (Approach the main door in the hangar) Jiro: I think that we're in the Land Shark's secret base. Kluke: Secret base? In the sky? Shu: If that's so, we have to be careful. Don't leave my side. Kluke: You think you're so cool, don't ya? Shu: That's got nothing to do with it. THERE'S A LOUD SOUND. Shu: What was that? SHU, JIRO AND KLUKE ARE CAPTURED BY SOME CLAW MECHS. Shu: Oh...!! Kluke: What are these things? Shu: Let us go! THE THREE CHARACTERS ARE THROWN INTO A CHUTE. THEY TRAVEL THROUGH A TUBE AND WHEN THEY EMERGE... Shu: Owwwww.... MECHA GENERAL SZABO APPROACHES THEM. Shu: Who do you think you are? THE GENERAL PULLS A GUN ON SHU. General Szabo: Your insolence will not be tolerated. Nene: Szabo, stop it. They may be scum, but they are guests. Deathroy: Guests! Nene: It is I who invited them here. General Szabo: My apologies. Nene: I didn't think it would be children baring their teeth at me. Deathroy: Hehehehe! Children! Children! Children! Nene: That's enough. Only children dare to take such drastic measures. Shu: You're controlling the Land Shark, aren't you! Nene: Land Shark? Deathroy: Land Shark? Nene: So that's what you call it in your world. So, tell me, wasn't it at least a little fun having the Land Shark pay you a visit once a year? Shu: Shut your face!! SHU CHARGES AT NENE, BUT NENE'S SHADOW APPEARS AND A BATTLE BEGINS. THE PARTY IS DEFEATED. AFTER THE BATTLE... Nene: They're corrupt... and they've not a shard of intelligence between them. Will they really do? Jiro: Shu, are you OK? Kluke: Pull yourself together. Shu: I'm fine. That didn't hurt at all. You can't beat me! Kluke: If you really are controlling the Land Shark, then you are the one who killed my parents. Jiro: Why do you attack our village? Nene: I want to hear your screams.... Kluke: You're joking... Shu: Dammit! Nene: Enough! Szabo, dispose of them. GENERAL SZABO PICKS UP SHU AND JIRO. THE FLOOR OPENS AND KLUKE FALLS THROUGH IT. GENERAL SZABO THROWS SHU AND JIRO IN AFTER HER. A PORTAL OPENS IN THE SIDE OF THE AIRSHIP AND THEY FREEFALL DOWN TOWARDS THE GROUND. Jiro: Help us!!! Shu: There's no way, no way, NO WAY you're going to beat me. ALL OF A SUDDEN THEY START FLOATING BACK UP TOWARDS THE SHIP. Kluke: Why? Jiro: I feel like I'm being pulled. Shu: I got it! It's because I said that he couldn't beat me. Jiro: I don't care why it is as long as it saves us. THEY FLY INTO THE TOP AREA OF THE AIRSHIP. (Look around and open the treasure chests. By the way, I also unlocked the door to the cockpit. I'm really sorry. Really. This here is a Warp Monument. Insert the warp clip to activate it. Robot: Again, I'm really sorry. I collected those Warp Clips from all over the world. There should be as many warp monuments as there are clips. Including this one, there are 23 warp monuments. (Make your way to the cockpit.) VOICES CAN BE HEARD COMING FROM THE COCKPIT. Marumaro: Who are you? Stay out of Maro's way! Shu: Maro? Jiro: Isn't that Nene's voice? Shu: But, Nene didn't ever call himself Maro. Kluke: And it's not the voice from the spheres. A ROBOT APPEARS. Shu: There's one! Kluke: If they're here, maybe the person whos voice that is is Nene's ally. Jiro: Good. We can ask him how to find Nene. Shu: Let's go! (Fight the robots.) Shu: Were they always that weak? Kluke: I think we got stronger. Shu: Ah, that's right. Let's find out about Nene from whoever's behind that door. (Enter the cockpit) MARUMARO IS SITTING IN THE COCKPIT CHAIR. Shu: Those clothes... you're a Devy, aren't you? Marumaro: I told you not to get in my way!! MARUMARO SUMMONS HIS SHADOW. Shu: He can use magic! Jiro: He must be one of Nene's friends. Marumaro: Don't lump me in with him! (Fight Marumaro.) MARUMARO SEES THE OTHER CHARACTERS' SHADOWS. Marumaro: You, too? THE DRILL MACHINE STARTS TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. Shu, Jiro and Kluke: Ahhhhhhhhh!! Marumaro: We must be there. THE DRILL MACHINE FALLS DOWN A LONG SHAFT AND CRASHES AT THE BOTTOM. Shu: Ouch.... MARUMARO RUNS OUT THE DOOR. Shu: He's getting away! Jiro: He's our key to finding Nene. But, I don't think he's an enemy. Shu: Why? Jiro: He said, "Don't lump me in with him!" He knows Nene, but he definitely doesn't like him. Kluke: Let's stop standing around talking and get moving. (Leave the Drill Machine and enter the Ruins.) ========================================================================== Ancient Hospital Ruins - bd 008 ========================================================================== Shu: Woah----! Jiro: Ruins. I can't believe how far underground they are. Shu: These are way different from the ones we explored in. Jiro: Yeah. Shu: Where did he go? (Make your way through the Ancient Hospital) (Enter the Operating Room...) Shu: What's wrong? Kluke: This isn't any ordinary ruin. I looks like a hospital. Shu: Hospital? Kluke: Yeah. This is where they must have treated sick and injured people. My parents were doctors, right? The atmosphere is the same. Hospitals' air has its own feeling. Shu: Air or whatever, this is an ancient building. Jiro: If this is an ancient hospital, what is that Devy planning on doing here? I'm pretty sure that the Drill Machine doesn't belong to the Devy tribe. Shu: He's got all the answers. We just have to ask. JIRO STOPS NEAR A MACHINE. Jiro: Shu, wait up. Shu: What's up? Jiro: Hold on. There's something about this machine. Shu: This machine....? Kluke: Shu, don't break it. Shu: I'm not going to break it. Does it even work? SHU PRESSES A BUTTON AND A BLUE LIGHT SURROUNDS HIM. Kluke: Wait! Shu! Jiro: Shu, are you OK? Shu: I don't feel any different. Kluke: Good. Try not to worry us like that, OK? Jiro: Shu, we don't know what'll happen, so please try to not randomly press buttons. Shu: Sorry. But, I feel pretty good. Jiro: Are your injuries all healed? Shu: Yeah, now that you mention it, they are. Jiro: It looks like this machine is used to fix injuries. If anything happens to us, let's use this machine to mend ourselves. (At the door in the Hospital Director's Office...) Shu: It won't budge. Jiro: There's got to be some way to open this door around here. (When you come upon the fire and ice monsters...) Jiro: They're fighting over that space. Those two look like they really don't get along. Shu: Great! Let's start a fight. (When you enter the pitch black room...) Shu: It's so dark, I can't see a thing. Jiro: There's probably a light switch around here somewhere. (In the Control Room...) Kluke: This room is different from the others we've seen. Jiro: I think it might me this building's control room. Shu: If that's so, let's play with everything and see what happens. (The far left switch restores power to the elevator.) (After finding the key...) Jiro: It looks like we can open the door in the Director's Office with this key. Shu: Where was the Director's Office? Jiro: If we leave this room and go right, we should be at the Director's Office. Shu: All right then, let's try it out. (Back at the Hospital Director's Office door...) Shu: It won't budge. Jiro: How about trying the key we picked up? Shu: Yeah, right. (At the elevator...) Shu: It looks like we can use it. (When you come to the room where Marumaro is fighting a fire and ice monster...) WILL YOU HELP HIM? YES/NO (Select YES and the battle begins) Shu: Huh? I thought those two didn't get along. Jiro: I thought so, too... Jiro: It uses Barrier to change it's body type. When it's Ice Wolf, use fire... (After the battle...) Kluke: (to Marumaro) Are you hurt? Marumaro: I didn't ask you to help me! Shu: We didn't need to be asked. Marumaro: What do you think you're doing with that hand? Kluke: It's called a handshake. I thought we maybe could get along. It's a greeting of ours. You Devy don't do this? Marumaro: We Devys dance! Shu: Dance? Marumaro: The Devy clan friendship dance! Shu: What's your name? Marumaro: Marumaro! Kluke: Marumaro... why do you have to shout everything you say? Marumaro: I don't know. Shu: You can use magic, right? Did you swallow one of those spheres? Or are you Nene's friend? Marumaro: Why would I be friends with someone like that? OUT--OF-- THE--QUESTION!!!!!!!!! Shu: I got it, sorry. I'll apologize if you stop with the shouting. Kluke: He kinda sounds like you, Shu. Jiro: Marumaro, what's with the machine? You didn't build it, did you? Marumaro: Ah! That's right! I have no time to play with you. I'm looking for some medicine. Kluke: Medicine? What kind? Marumaro: Don't follow me! If I don't hurry up and find the medicine, my mother and all the other villagers will die! Shu: You can relax. We'll help you look. Jiro: That's right. Kluke: It's better than looking alone, isn't it? Marumaro: Do what you want. (Follow Marumaro) Shu: Don't be so stubborn. What if another monster attacks you? Marumaro: Blahblahblah!! Jiro: Hey, it's a Warp Monument. Let's insert one of the Warp Clips. (Go through the door...) Marumaro: It's here! Kluke: It's ancient medicine, right? Can you still use it? Marumaro: That guy said I could still use it. Shu: What guy? Marumaro: That guy! Shu: Not Nene, right? Marumaro: Forget about that now. Shu: Hey, Marumaro... Kluke: Shu, let it be for now. Shu: But... Kluke: I'm sure he has his reasons. He said that if he found the medicine, he could save the people in his village, right? Jiro: Yeah. (Search for the medicine) Marumaro: Here it is! I found it! This is the special remedy! Now I can cure everyone in the village. We don't have time! Shu: Marumaro, wait! THE DRILL MACHINE POPS OUT OF THE GROUND. Marumaro: Everyone, hold on!! THE DRILL MACHINE FINALLY COMES TO A REST IN LAGO VILLAGE. ========================================================================== Lago Village - bd009 ========================================================================== BLACK SMOKE POURS OUT OF THE DRILL MACHINE. Jiro: I guess it overheated. That's what happens at that speed. I don't think we'll be able to use it again. (Approach Marumaro.) Mayor: Marumaro, is this the medicine? Marumaro: Yep! Mayor: Good. Hurry up and take it to the others. Marumaro: You got it! MARUMARO RUNS OFF. THE MAYOR ADDRESSES THE PARTY. Mayor: And who might you be? Jiro: We're from Tata Village. We ran into Marumaro and helped him find the medicine. Mayor: Is that so? I've heard that Tata Village is in quite a state after the Land Shark attack. Jiro: Yes. Shu: (to Kluke) Except for Marumaro they all speak normally. Kluke: Yeah. Jiro: I wonder what happened here. It must be something really bad if they needed that ancient medicine. Mayor: I see that Marumaro hasn't filled you in. Shu: He just ran around screaming that he needed to save everyone. He wouldn't tell us any more than that. Mayor: I see. (Talk to the other Devy people.) Mayor: Please come inside. Devy Man: It's been a long time since we've had humans visit us here. Devy Girl: This is the first tragedy we've ever faced. Devy Boy: Most of the villagers are really sick. I'm not sure why we haven't, though. Accessory Seller: I hope the medicine that Marumaro brought works. Item Seller: We need a really special kind of medicine. (Enter the building.) INSIDE THE BUILDING IS THE REST OF THE VILLAGERS, BED-RIDDEN AND WRITHING. Kluke: Oh my god... Is it the flu? Mayor: I'm not sure. People started getting sick all of a sudden about 3 days ago. We don't know what caused it, but you can see the results. Kluke: Have you ever seen these symptoms before? Mayor: No, I've never seen anything like it. Our doctors are also quite baffled. Shu: I can see why Marumaro was in such a hurry. Jiro: Yeah, this is really bad. AN OLDER DEVY APPRAOCHES HOLDING A CUP. Kluke: Is that the medicine that Marumaro brought back? Mayor: Yes. Let's just hope it works. THE PATIENTS DRINK THE MEDICINE. Shu: (to Marumaro) Marumaro... Baby Devys: Maro, Mommy and Daddy will get better, right? Marumaro: Yes! MARUMARO GIVES THE CUP OF MEDICINE TO HIS MOTHER AND FATHER. BUT, THEY GRAB THEIR THROATS AND COUGH EVEN HARDER THAN THEY WERE BEFORE. Marumaro: Mom! Dad! Why? He said that if you drank that you'd be cured instantly. Shu: What's happening to everyone? Jiro: Everybody's the same. They took the medicine but it only made them sicker. Kluke: Why? Shu: Marumaro, you didn't take the wrong medicine, did you? Marumaro: Of course I didn't. He told me to find the jar that had that mark on it. He said it was the Special Medicine. Marumaro's Siblings: Maro..... A DEVY RUNS IN FROM OUTSIDE. Devy Man: Mayor! The sky! Mayor: The sky? What about the sky? Devy Man: There's a huge purple cloud approaching. (Talk to the Devys before heading outside...) Devy: There's gotta be a way to cure this sickness. We can't give up! Sick Devy: I used to be so strong, but now I can't even get out of this bed. Devy: That purple cloud must be causing this. Mayor: A purple cloud appeared outside. The last thing we need is more trouble. Sick Devy: Ohhhhh, it hurts. Help me! I don't want to die. Spell Book Seller: Uncle, hang in there! (to Shu) I usually sell Spell Books, but they'd be no good in a time like this. Sick Devy: It's tough for all the adults to be sick, but I feel even worse for the children and old people. Devy: The medicine has no effect. Why could this be? Accessory Seller: People started dropping like flies after the purple cloud appeared in the village. Sick Devy: I'm sure there's a ton of washing waiting for me. That's all I keep worrying about. Devy Child: Hey, mister, am I gonna die? Devy: My son is so sick. I wish I knew how to make him better. Sick Devy: Please, help me. I'm not ready to die. Sick Devy: If I knew I was gonna end up like this, I would have done more with my life. Sick Devy: My whole body hurts and I can't sleep. Sick Devy: Dammit! I won't let this sickness get me! Sick Devy: It's over. I don't have much time left. Marupin: Don't cry. We're men and men don't cry. We're gonna be strong like our brother Marumaro. Marutra: Maro, don't worry about Mom and Dad. We'll watch over them. Maruphini: I know that you'll find the medicine that'll make everyone better. Marumini: I bring fresh flowers everyday hoping that everyone will get better soon. Marupon: I hope we can still play hide and seek when everyone gets better. Marumira: I've been taking care of the cleaning and the laundry. Mom and Dad will get better, right? Marumaro: Purple cloud.... it's the cloud that's making everyone sick. Marumaro's Father: Please tell Marumaro to not worry about just us. The whole village is counting on him. Marumaro's Mother: Maro is a brave boy. I'm so relieved that the kids are safe. (Approach the altar) Jiro: This is a place to pray. Let's come check it out again later when Marumaro is with us. (Go outside) THE PURPLE CLOUD COMES ROLLING INTO THE VILLAGE. Shu: Nene... THE GIANT MECHAT DECENDS FROM THE SKY. Marumaro: You lied to me!! AN ELECTRIC SHOCK STARTS TO RUN THROUGH MARUMARO'S BODY. Jiro: Marumaro, what's wrong? Marumaro: I can't move... NENE AND GENERAL SZABO RIDE A YELLOW LIGHT DOWN TO THE GROUND. Shu: So, we meet again. THE PARTY MEMBERS UNLEASH THEIR SHADOWS. Shu: Be careful. It's magic is still stronger than ours. Got it? Marumaro: Hey, you! You lied to me! YOU LIED!!! Shu: Marumaro, leave it to us. Jiro: We'll attack him all at once. Kluke: Got it. THE SHADOWS RUSH AT NENE, BUT NENE'S EYES FLASH RED AND THE SHADOWS ARE REPELLED. Marumaro: No! NENE TRAPS MARUMARO IN A BLUE FORCEFIELD. GENERAL SZABO TAKES THE ANCIENT MEDICINE FROM MARUMARO'S HANDS. Marumaro: Ah! What are you doing? Nene: I didn't lie. This medicine is necessary. That's why I had you find it. GENERAL SZABO HANDS NENE A GLASS. Szabo: Here, my lord. Nene: This is it. It shines.... NENE TAKES A DRINK. Szabo: How is it, sir? NENE STARTS TO GLOW PURPLE. Nene: Even this is no good. NENE SMASHES THE GLASS ON THE GROUND. Marumaro: You tricked me! Shu: Nene, you're the one doing this to the Devy people, aren't you? You said that you like to hear people scream. You made these people sick just so you could hear their agony, didn't you? Nene: And if I say yes? Shu: Then I'll crush you! Marumaro: Is this really all your fault? Nene: This is the only way. Deathroy: The only way! THE YELLOW LIGHT APPEARS AGAIN AND TRANSPORTS NENE BACK UP INTO THE SHIP. Marumaro: Wait! Tell me where the real medicine is! THE GIANT MECHAT AND THE PURPLE CLOUD DISAPPEAR. Shu: Nene! The next time we meet will be the last. Got it! Jiro: What was he trying to do with that medicine? Kluke: The village people are suffering. To use it all... MARUMARO RUNS OFF SCREAMING. Shu: Marumaro... Jiro: Shu, let's catch up to Marumaro. (Head up the steps) Marupon: I wanted to play with Maro. Where'd he go? Maruphini: I haven't seen Maro that upset since the time he had to go without dinner. Marutra: Maro was running towards the cliff. Accessory Dealer: I know that my people are suffering, but I don't know how to help them. I figured I'd do some work and maybe it would come to me. (Equipment List) Gold Bracelet 400 Gold Gold Ring 450 Gold Gold Necklace 600 Gold Gold Earring 320 Gold Marumira: Maro usually goes to the cliff when he wants to be alone. Devy Shut-in: I don't know, nor do I want to know, anything about what's going on in the village. Marupin: Maro was crying. Stop bullying him! Marumini: Was that Maro that just ran by here? It's dark so I couldn't really see. (Find and talk to Marumaro.) Marumaro: Everyone's going to die. They'll die!! Shu: Marumaro, keep your head up. Don't just say that they're going to die. Don't just assume that you've lost. We haven't. There has to be a way to save everyone. There's no time to cry. We have to find a way to save your people. They're all hanging in there, waiting. Marumaro: Shu... Jiro: He's right, Marumaro. We can use magic. Let's try using it to heal the people. Or we could go back to the ruins and look for other medicines. Kluke: Marumaro.... I've seen those symptoms before. Marumaro: Really? BACK IN THE BUILDING WITH THE SICK PEOPLE... Kluke: My father once examined a man who had eczema like this. It was the same color and about the same shape. He had touched a poison flower in the forest. But, if you make a tea from that flower's leaves, you can cure the poison. Shu: So we should search for that leaf, right? Kluke, where can we find it? Kluke: Sorry, I don't know. Shu: Then what good is it? Kluke: Sorry. I was little at the time so I don't remember. Mayor: I've seen that leaf before in the Forest of the Dead to the south. It's far in the swamp. The area around it is pretty overgrown. Shu: Marumaro, let's go there together. MARUMARO JOINS THE PARTY. Marumaro: I was out hunting when everyone got sick. Three days ago, a purple mist like that cloud came into the village. Everyone who came in contact with the mist fell down. I heard that my Mom and Dad had gotten sick, so I rushed back to the village. I didn't know what to do. I thought that I'd get something for the people to eat, so they could get their strength back. And when I went outside, he showed up. He said that if I found the ancient medicine that was in the ruins, I could save everyone. So, to save the village, I swallowed the sphere. Because of that I was able to use magic and that strange shadow. I was also able to operate machines by magic. But... it was all lies. He wanted that medicine for himself. Jiro: But, it's strange. Shu: What is? Jiro: If he knew where it was, how come he didn't go and find it by himself. Mayor: The Undersea Cavern and the Forest of the Dead are full of danger. Spell Book Seller: If you're really going to the Forest of the Dead, you have to go through the Undersea Cavern. But, there lives a four-headed snake in the cave that's been known to attack people when it's hungry. Be careful. It's a very vicious creature. (Spell List) White Lv2 - Curakero (cure Toad status) 1000 Gold White Lv2 - Genere (regenerate HP during battle) 1050 Gold Black Lv2 - Ground (Earth magic) 850 Gold Black Lv2 - Shadow (Dark magic) 1100 Gold Power Lv1 - Sleep (Cause Sleep status) 450 Gold Power Lv2 - Quick (Speed up actions) 950 Gold Armor Lv1 - Shell (Increase magic protection) 500 Gold Armor Lv2 - Floor (Set up a floor that causes damage) 900 Gold (Outside, talk to the Devy guarding the gate) Devy: Are you really headed to the Forest of the Dead? I know you can use magic, but it's really not a place for kids. You look pretty set on going, though. So, I'll stop talking. If you want to go to the Undersea Cavern, take a right after you leave the village and keep going straight. ************************************************************************** * * * Field Skill Tutorial - fieldtut * ************************************************************************** * * * Skills that you can use on the world map or in a dungeon are called * * FIELD SKILLS. Jiro: Those must be the Hermit Crap Crabs. Shu: What's that? Jiro: They use poop in place of a shell. A LITTLE FARTHER IN THE CAVERN... Jiro: Shu, look, it's a Grade-Up Box. Shu: What do we do with it? Jiro: If you put an item in, a different item comes out. Shu: Really? Cool! Let's give it a try. (WHAT ITEM DO YOU WANT TO PUT IN?) (MEDICINE) (SHADOW CRYSTAL) (LIGHT CRYSTAL) WHEN YOU STUMBLE UPON THE LOCKED TREASURE CHEST... Shu: It won't open. Jiro: It has the mark of a fish on the lock. AFTER YOU FIND THE FISH-SHAPED KEY... Shu: Cool! This key is shaped like a fish. Jiro: It probably fits a treasure chest in this cave. BACK AT THE TREASURE CHEST... Jiro: Shu, I think you can use that key you picked up earlier. OBTAIN THE SIX-SIDED CRYSTAL Shu: It's so shiny. Marumaro: Let me see! Kluke: It's beautiful! Jiro: I've never seen a crystal shaped like this before. I wonder if we can use it somehow. AT THE SIX-SIDED BARNACLE... Shu: Wow, the opening in this barnacle is hexagonal. Jiro: Let's try putting the crystal in it. (In the next area, fight the four-headed snake.) (After the battle make your way to the Sheep Camp.) ========================================================================== Sheep Camp - Forest bd011 ========================================================================== Sheep: This is the Forest Sheep Camp. We Sheep travel from place to place like a bunch of rolling stones. We are scattered all over the world. Kluke: We ran into some Sheep in the Wilderness. Everybody was happy and healthy. Sheep: That's great news. Please tell the others the same about us. And to brush their teeth before bed. (Activate the Warp Monument) Sheep: Wow, you got it moving. And I thought it was just a piece of junk. Sheep: Ever since that purple cloud appeared, the forest has gotten way more dangerous. Also, the giant tree in the forest is getting weaker. Sheep: You came to get the Gabo Leaf? Sorry, but the Gabo leaves in the forest are all withered. Sheep: The ancient butterflies hover around invisible treasures. If you kill them all, you should be able to get your hands on it. Sheep: The Forest of the Dead is filled with monsters made from the spirits of the dead who for reasons like despair and betrayal, couldn't ascend to heaven. Even the benevolent King Kuful, who ruled this area 500 years ago, is a ghost wandering the forest. Sheep: The Forest of the Dead is really dangerous. If possible, I'd rather not live here. But, we can harvest important herbs here, so we braved the danger and set up camp. Sheep: Do you know how to hit yourself? Use the Y Button to change your target. If you are in a panic, have your allies hit you to cure it. Sheep: Do you want to know how to check your status during battle? Press either the LB or RB Buttons. Sheep: I came here to pick herbs so I can heal the person I love. If you are ever at the Wilderness camp, please give them this. I'm going to stay here and keep picking herbs. But, I want to see him as soon as possible. Sheep: In the Forest of the Dead is a tree that grows items. It's a dangerous place, but there are some nice crops. See for yourself. You'll find good items lying all around. Sheep: Just like in love, on the battlefield it's important to have a good diplomatic relationship with your allies. If you build-up power you can have a strong attack, but in that same time you can make a few simpler moves. Ah! I have to run after that person! Sheep: If you use water on fire, the fire gets weaker. Use fire on fire, and it just burns stronger. It's like that kid over there and her love. If you come across a fire enemy, pour some water on it. But, don't pour water on their love. Sheep: By looking at those two I couldn't help but think that even if the girl chasing that boy actually gets him, he could have 3 girlfriends if there were three girls chasing him. Hmm.... I wonder if I can use this somehow on the battlefield.... ========================================================================== Forest of the Dead - bd012 ========================================================================== Shu: We're supposed to find it from inside there? Jiro: Don't complain. Let's go. Shu: I'm not complaining. Marumaro, I'll find that leaf for you. I promise. There's no way I'll lose to Jiro. Kluke: (to Jiro) I wonder why he has to make everything a competition. (Talk to the Old Tree) Old Tree: How much time has passed since they stole my soul I wonder. Hello there, traveler. I couldn't possibly persuade you to use your strange powers to recover my soul, could I? (Approach the purple fog) Jiro: This is no ordinary fog. Be on your guard. (Find the tree's soul) ?: I want to go back... I want to go back... where is my body...? (Take the soul back to the tree.) Old Tree: Oh! That is my stolen soul. I'm very grateful. Here's what I'll do... A BRIDGE RISES OUT OF THE SWAMP. Shu: Awesome! Old Tree: I wish I could do more for you for retrieving my soul. Is there no way I can be of assistance? Jiro: Maybe you can tell us where we can find the Gabo leaf. Old Tree: Gabo Leaf? Yes, it does grow in this forest. However, because of the poison fog, you cannot reach it. Shu: What should we do? Old Tree: The cause of the poison fog is a machine to the north. If you can stop the machine, the fog should clear. Once you get rid of the fog, return here. I will tell you the location of the Gabo Leaf. (At the Old Tree after shutting off the fog machine.) Old Tree: I see you cleared the fog. I am amazed by your power. Shu: Um... Ah... Kluke: This is no time to be embarrassed. Please tell us where the Gabo Leaf is. Old Tree: Ah, yes... the Gabo Leaf. There is a bridge near the place where you found my soul. Cross the bridge and it should be there. Take great care... (Approach the Gabo Flowers) Voice: You wretched souls who come seeking the Gabo Leaf... Marumaro: We need it to save everybody! Voice: You are filled with greed. You desire everything. You want to make everything yours. You're just like us! (After taking the Gabo Leaf..) Shu: Let's get back. Marumaro: Yeah. Jiro: Shu, let's hurry back to Lago Village. Shu: If we use the warp monument, we'll be there in a flash. Marumaro: Everyone, hold on!! ========================================================================== Lago Village - bd013 ========================================================================== Gate Guard: Ah! It's the Gabo Leaf. I really didn't think you could do it. But, you did. Now you can save the people. Hurry! (In the building...) THE SICK DEVY ARE DRINKING THE GABO LEAF TEA. Marumaro: Dad, Mom, do you feel a change? Are you feeling better? Shu: Relax, Marumaro. Jiro: Kluke said that they should drink the tea and then sleep for a while. Then we'll see some changes. Marumaro: Really? Then by tomorrow morning everyone will be all better! Right? Right? Right? Kluke: It's ok. Don't worry. NIGHT. MARUMARO FALLS OUT OF BED AND LANDS ON SHU. Shu: Uwaa!! Marumaro...? He got me good... Kluke, Jiro? KLUKE AND JIRO'S BEDS ARE EMPTY. Shu: Kluke and Jiro are gone. I wonder where they went. OUTSIDE MARUMARO'S HOUSE... Accessory Seller: Hi, I just couldn't seem to get to sleep. I'm really exited about tomorrow. A little scared, too. ENTER THE COMMUNAL BUILDING... Jiro: Kluke, I've got tomorrow's batch all ready to go. Kluke: Thanks. I've wanted to be a doctor since I was a kid. There are a lot of patients, especially since it's my first time treating people. Jiro: You can say that again. Kluke: Thankfully, everyone is sleeping. Jiro: What about you? Can't you sleep? Kluke: Speak for yourself. Jiro: I was worried about you because you were up. Kluke: Thanks. JIRO AND KLUKE ARE OUTSIDE STARING AT THE MOON... Kluke: To tell you the truth, I'm really scared. Jiro: Scared? Kluke: Yeah, about the morning. Jiro: Because then we'll know if the medicine worked or not, right? Kluke: Yeah... I was only 8 when my Dad treated that patient. What if I'm remembering things wrong? Jiro: I'm sure it's OK. Kluke: I told Marumaro it would absolutely work. What if it doesn't absolutely work? I have this feeling that I hold these people's lives in my hands. It's scary. That's why I can't sleep. Jiro: You should try to get some rest, though. We'll still have to care for everybody, even if they are all better. Kluke: Thanks for making me feel better, Jiro. Jiro: I was worried about you. Kluke: Thanks. Jiro: Kluke, you're always trying so hard. You know, if you feel like crying, it's OK to cry in front of us, you know. Kluke: Yeah, I guess so. Jiro: I heard you cry by yourself sometimes. Kluke: Hmm? Jiro: Shu told me. Kluke: You guys knew, huh? Jiro: Tears flush away all the sadness and pain, so it's OK to cry as much as you need to. Kluke: Jiro, thank you. THE NEXT MORNING... Marumaro: Yay!!!!!!! Yay! Yay!!! Marumaro's Father: Ah!!! I'm all better! Marumaro's Mother: I feel so strong! Marumaro's Siblings: Mommy!! Daddy!! Marumaro's Father: I feel so full of life and power. Mother, I think I feel energetic enough to increase the number of our kids by one or two. Marumaro's Mother: Father, you're so wild! Marumaro's Father: Come, let's dance! We'll dance the Devy Family Dance of Joy! THE FAMILY STARTS TO DANCE. Kluke: Marumaro, everything worked out great! Marumaro: Thank you, Kluke! Thank you, thank you, thank you! Kluke: I know, I know. You don't have to scream in my ear. Mayor: Thank you very much. And now we'll dance. It's our thanks to you! (Talk to the Devys) Mayor: Thank you again. We owe you our lives. If you ever need our help, please don't hesitate to ask. We'll do whatever we can to help. Devy: If only I were ten years younger. I used to be the best dancer in the village. Devy: That girl Kluke is great! I'm sure she'll make a great doctor someday! Devy: I'm so happy to be able to see the big blue sky and the wide open land again. Devy: You guys are the best! Spell Seller: You really saved me. It wasn't just a dream. Devy: The village got it's old life back again. I want to thank you, but don't have the words... Devy Child: I can't dance yet. I hope I can learn to soon! Devy: I feel so refreshed. Thank you. Devy: It makes me so happy to see everybody smiling again. Devy: You guys are really something! Please enjoy the dance. Devy: To see everyone dancing like this again, it must be a dream. Thank you. Accessory Seller: Thank you so much for saving the village. Come by my shop anytime. OUTSIDE... Devy Child: Marumaro, come quick! Marumaro: What is it? What's the matter? SOME DEVY ARE GATHERED AROUND A JAR WITH A MARK ON IT. Devy: Marumaro, well done. Marumaro: It's all thanks to my friends. Devy: Marumaro, look at this. Marumaro: What is it? Devy: We just pulled it up front the bottom of the fountain. Marumaro: From the fountain? Devy: Marumaro, take a good look at it. It has the same mark as the drill machine that you got from that guy had. Group: Huh? Oh! Jiro: So it was Nene who was making all the villagers sick. Shu: That bastard! Marumaro: Unacceptable! Shu: Marumaro, leave the rest to us. We're going to make him pay for what he did to our village. Marumaro: I want to come, too! Kluke: But, your Mom and Dad are all better now. Should you stay here with them? A family should be together. Marumaro: Now it's my turn to save you guys. Please take me. It's not enough for me that just my people were saved. Shu: OK, you can come with us. (Talk to the Devys) Devy: The Gulu mountain range is pretty far. Make sure you're well prepared before you leave. Devy: You're already leaving the village? You should rest a while before you take off. Devy: Marumaro is very brave. I'm sure he'll be an asset to you. Devy: The other Devys are heading home through the Communal Building's back door. (Check the altar) Shu: Wow! What a huge statue! What is it? Marumaro: It's our god. That statue has been there a really long time. Shu: That's a god? Marumaro: Yeah, why? Something strange about it? Jiro: It's not strange, it's just... Shu: You guys worship odd things... Kluke: It's less a god than a monster. Marumaro: Are you guys making fun of my god? Jiro: Sorry, Marumaro. It's just a lot different from our culture. Shu: Yeah... Kluke: Sorry, Marumaro. Marumaro: Now that you mention it, this god is a little scary. (Spell Shop List) White Lv2 Z-Heal 1200 Gold (Heal the entire party slightly) Black Lv2 Particle 1200 Gold (Absorb HP) Power Lv2 Poison 850 Gold (Poison enemies) Armor Lv2 Wall 1150 Gold (Protect against physical attacks) Devy: To reach the Gulu Mountain Range, you need to take a left when you leave the village, and then head north. Be careful. Marupon: Spells have many strange powers. I'll teach you one that can make you younger. "Su--maden-yobasa" Ah, we're still children. Shu: If I get any younger, I'd be a baby. Marumaro: Ha! Shu's a baby! Shu: You don't have any spells to make his voice quieter, do you? Marumaro: There's no such thing! (Pray at all the altars in peoples' houses and then at the statue again to get the Fire Ring.) AT THE GATE... Marumaro: Where are we headed again? Jiro: Let's head back to our village. Shu: Yeah. Marumaro: Tata Village? Jiro: We need to tell everyone about Nene and figure out a plan for fighting the Land Shark. Kluke: Marumaro, do you know how to get to Tata Village from here? Marumaro: I do! We need to go through the Gulu Mountain Range! Mayor: You're going through the Gulu Mountains? I guess that is the only way to get back to Tata Village. Marumaro: The only way! Mayor: Please remember this dance. Shu: Huh? Marumaro: This dance? Mayor: That's it! Marumaro, that dance can break the spell on the rock that is blocking the path to the Gulu Mountain. Marumaro: I got it! Mayor: Good. Gulu Mountain is very dangerous. Please be careful. (Talk to the Mayor again.) Mayor: Please help yourself to our treasure chests. Oh, you already have? Oh well, it's OK. Please use whatever was inside. You were the ones who saved our village after all. Now the Unlock Dance! Please help yourself to the treasures. (All locked treasure chests are now unlocked.) (Make your way to the rock blocking the Gulu Mountain path) Jiro: This must be the entrance to the Gulu Mountains. Marumaro: Yep! Shu: Do you remember that dance that the Mayor taught you? Marumaro: Yeah, I think so. Kluke: Marumaro, good luck! MARUMARO DOES HIS DANCE AND THE ROCK SPLITS IN TWO. Kluke: You did it! It opened! Shu: Marumaro, you're a genius! Marumaro: Yeah, I'm a genius! ========================================================================== Gulu Mountains - bd014 ========================================================================== Toripo: Hmm? Ah! I never thought I'd run into people in a place like this. Anyway, it's been a few days at least. It's because of all the monsters on the way here. What am I? Thanks for asking. I am the world famous, great explorer Toripo. Huh? You've never heard of me? Really? Well, anyway, I think luck brought us together today. I trade items for medals. Would you like to have a look at what I have? The price goes up each time you buy something. There's a lot of valuable stuff here, so don't pass it up. I'm headed for the Aurora Ruins. Shu: What a strange guy... NEAR THE EXIT OF THE CAVE... Kluke: Shu, Jiro, don't you think we can see Tata Village from over there? OUTSIDE... Shu: We're home. Jiro: I feel like we've been gone for ages. Kluke: I hope everyone's OK. Marumaro: Let's go and find out. Jiro: Shu, let's hurry back. Shu: I'm with you. BACK AT TATA VILLAGE... Marumaro: Oh my!! It's really quiet. The Land Shark did all this damage? Shu: Grandpa..! Jiro: Mom!! Dad!! (Enter the village...) Shu: This is my grandpa's workshop. (Read the letter on the table...) SHU, JIRO AND KLUKE, WHEN YOU READ THIS LETTER, I WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT WE ARE OK. WE COULDN'T LIVE IN THIS VILLAGE ANY LONGER AND DECIDED TO FIND A NEW PLACE. AFTER YOU LEFT, THE LAND SHARK ATTAKED THE VILLAGE DAILY AND REDUCED IT TO IT'S PRESENT STATE. WE HAVE DECIDED TO HEAD FOR Gibral CASTLE TOWN. THERE ARE MANY DANGERS ON THE ROAD TO Gibral, BUT THEY ARE LESS FRIGHTFUL THAN THAT LAND SHARK. WE ARE TAKING THE ROAD ALONG THE SEA, SO IF YOU FIND THIS LETTER, HEAD FOR GIBRAL. EVERYONE IS PRAYING FOR YOUR SAFETY. FUSHIRA Kluke: Gibral? Marumaro: I don't know that place. Is it far? Jiro: The path along the sea takes about 3 days. But, everyone's safe. That's a relief. Shu: Not for me. If the whole village is moving, that means the children and babies, too. Kluke: Landon just had a daughter. She's not even a month old yet. Shu: Which means it'll take them more than 3 days. Marumaro: Which means we can't stand around talking all day. Shu: You're right. Let's go after them. If they get attacked by monsters, they're finished. Jiro: Wait. Shu: Why? Jiro: If we're in a hurry, we should take the Mural Valley route. Shu: Huh? There? Jiro: I'm sure the only reason the villagers chose the path along the sea was because they were afraid of the Mural Valley. Marumaro: Why? Jiro: Because the murals are alive. It's said that they attack and eat travelers. Kluke: I've never seen them, but traveling salesmen often tell stories like that. Shu: Let's go. Sounds like a plan. YOU GOT FUSHIRA'S LETTER (Walk around the village and explore the houses.) (In Shu's house...) Shu: That's my house. Shu: It smells like my grandpa. I hope I can see him soon. Shu: It's my grandpa's special food. (In Kluke's house...) Kluke: This is my house. Shu: I'm gonna eat this. Kluke: That's.... Shu: Ewww... gross. Kluke: Well, you can't win them all. Shu: This bed smells like Kluke. Kluke: Shu, stop it. Shu: Hey, do you wear makeup? Kluke: That's my mom's lipstick. Kluke: Stop! Don't open that! Marumaro: What is this thin cloth? Kluke: Marumaro! Shu: These are adult's clothes. Jiro: They must be Kluke's keepsakes of her parents. (Check the diary..) I KNOW THAT I'M NOT THE MOST TALKATIVE FATHER, SO I DECIDED TO KEEP ALL OF MY FEELINGS IN THIS DIARY. HOPEFULLY, SOMEDAY I WILL SHOW IT TO YOU AND YOU WILL KNOW HOW MUCH I THINK ABOUT YOU. I'M SURE YOU ALREADY KNOW, THOUGH. I CAN SEE IT IN YOUR FACE, VOICE AND GESTURES. I LOVE YOU AS MUCH AS YOU LOVE ME. THANK YOU. (Another diary...) KLUKE, TOMORROW YOU'LL BE 8. I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW BIG YOU'VE GOTTEN. IT SEEMS LIKE YESTERDAY THAT YOU WERE BORN. YOU WERE ALWAYS A SICK CHILD AND WE WERE ALWAYS WORRIED ABOUT YOU. THANK YOU FOR GROWING OUT OF THAT AND BECOMING SO HEALTHY. YOU ARE OUR TREASURE. YOU ARE THE MOST BEAUTIFUL THING IN THE WORLD. IF YOU ARE NEAR I FEEL LIKE I AM THE HAPPIEST PERSON IN THE WORLD. I ALWAYS PLACED KISSES ON YOUR SLEEPING FACE. PLEASE KNOW THAT YOUR MOTHER NEVER WANTS YOU TO LOSE WHAT MAKES YOU SHINE. (Jiro's house...) Jiro: This is my house. Shu: Wow, these clothes look expensive. Jiro: They're not. Shu: I don't know what any of this means. Kluke: You read some really hard books, Jiro. Kluke: You're house is so clean. Your mother does a great job keeping things in order. Jiro: Kluke... Shu: My grandpa is horrible at it. (Talk to the peddler..) Peddler: *cough* *cough* Shu: Are you OK? Peddler: Yes, everything's great. Such delicious looking treats as you strayed into my reach. (turns into a monster.) (In the Inn...) Polt: Somebody, help me. Is that you, Shu? Please help me. Polt: Thanks for saving me. That monster locked me in here. And then he attacked any person that came near. But thanks to you he's gone. I know it's not much, but please take this. (Get the Earring of Ordeals) I've decided to stay here and work until all the rest of the villagers return. Do you want to buy anything? Or how about taking a rest? (Spell List) Power Lv1 Nonhit 550G (Reduces accuracy) Armor Lv1 Heal-up 650G (Increases recovery) ========================================================================== Mural Valley West - bd015 ========================================================================== Shu: Woah... awesome! Jiro: I'd heard it was. And it truly is. Kluke: So this wall... is alive? Marumaro: What are you talking about... "alive"? Can't you see it's just a picture? THE PICTURE MOVES AND ATTACKS THE PARTY. Shu: Ah! A treasure chest appeared out of thin air. Jiro: It appeared after we beat the mural monster. I wonder if there's some connection. Kluke: Hey, this place creeps me out. Let's get out of here quick. Jiro: Yeah. (After defeating the next mural monster...) Shu: There's another treasure chest. Jiro: I bet a chest appears everytime we beat one of those monsters. Shu: If that's so, let's wipe 'em all out. Jiro: No, we don't have time for that. We're in a hurry, remember? Shu: You're right. Sorry. (After some time...) Shu: What? It's a dead end. Kluke: We should go back to that last bridge we crossed. (Even further in...) Kluke: Shu, wait. Shu: Kluke, what is it? Kluke: Can we rest a minute? Jiro: That's a good idea. We've been walking nonstop. Marumaro: I'm pooped. Shu: But, Jiro, don't we still have a ways to go? Jiro: It's still a ways past this valley. This looks like a good place to rest, but we should be out of this valley before long. Shu: All right then, everyone just hang in there a little bit longer. Kluke: Ok. Marumaro: I'll hang in there, too! ========================================================================== Moire Village - bd016 ========================================================================== THE PARTY GAZES UPON SOME MURALS ON THE WALLS OF THE BUILDING. Shu: Aren't these murals monsters, too? Jiro: These murals are alive, or should I say living. Kluke: Did the ancients draw these pictures? It's looking at me. Shu: Yeah. THE CREATURE IN THE MURAL BLINKS. Mural Monster: How's it going? Shu: It spoke! Mural Monster: Hey, girl. What's your name? Kluke: Kluke. Mural Monster: Kluke. What a lovely name. Everybody, come here. It's been years since we've had visitors. Kluke: Wow, there's so many of them. (Talk to the living murals...) Living Mural: Hey, there's no need to be afraid. We can't leave this place. Living Mural: This is the first time I ever thought it would be great to have a body. Then I could get next to her... Living Mural Child: Mom, there's some strange thing looking at me. Living Mural Woman: The others in here are despicable. They'll come on to any young thing that struts in here. Living Mural Man: Long time since we've had visitors. There used to be people passing through here all the time. I remember well an armor clad soldier who came through here about 300 years ago. He was like the embodiment of justice, but was betrayed by a companion who was jealous of his fame. He was beheaded for a crime he didn't commit. It's said that he still wanders the street that leads to Gibral. Living Mural Woman: I better not catch you making eyes at my man! Living Mural Man: You guys are so lucky. You get to travel around with her. (Examine the black monument in the middle of the room...) Momument: Welcome, newcomers. I should tell you more about this place. If you are wise, you will lend me your ears. Long ago, this world was ruled by magic. Those who could control the strongest magics became kings and their families ruled for generations. This absolute rule by magic lead to births of those weak in magic. Those unable to use magic were subject to intense discrimination. The king was hurt by this discrimination. To assist those who couldn't use magic, he created machines. The machines advanced rapidly. Finally, in a fusion with magic, an eternal engine was created. However, the weak were destined to be destroyed. Shu: What's that picture? Kluke: It looks like a war. Monument: At first it was a small war. Soon, it enveloped the world. Jiro: That's how everyone was killed? Monument: History is to be told, to look hard at. Search for the answers yourself. I have fulfilled my purpose. Please continue towards the center. (In the newly opened room there is an item, equipment and spell dealer) (Spell List) Black Lv3 Flare-ra 2300 G (Equipment List) Mythril Bracelet 600G Mythril Ring 750G Mythril Necklace 800G Mythril Earring 410G Living Mural Man: We are living drawings. We were drawn about 100,000 years ago. Living Mural Man: To use your words, those ancient dudes drew these pictures to tell their kids about the past. Yo. Living Mural Woman: They say that it was someone using a machine to amplify their own magic power that brought an end to the world. Monument: Welcome to the Moire Village. These living murals were created to tell the stories of the past for all time. Please enjoy them. (In the next room there are 3 treasure chests surrounded by different color barriers.) Monument: This room's characteristic atmosphere represents the old life that we used to know. Living Mural Kid: Birds don't fly on really windy days. They look free but, they're controlled by the wind. Hey, see that square box over there. Know what that is? Jiro: That's a warp monument. You can use magic to return here whenever. Living Mural Kid: I've been watching it for a long time, but I've never seen anyone use it to come here. Are you lying? Are you just pretending to know? Shu: Hey, this kid's pretty smart. (Activate the warp monument...) Living Mural Kid: !!!!!!! Shu: What's with him? Jiro: I think he's amazed that we activated the monument. Shu: Is he gonna be amazed for the next 100,000 years? Maybe we shouldn't have done that. Living Mural Woman: I am that child's mother. But, truth be told, everyone here is the same age. Living Mural Kid: We've always gotten along. Living Mural Kid: Hey, on your way here, you didn't happen to see any cats, did you? Shu: Cats? We didn't see any cats. Where are they? Living Mural Kid: On the walls. Just like us. I've been wondering for so long how many cats there are. We can't leave the walls, so I can't count them. Shu: Yeah, you are a drawing on a wall, after all. Living Mural Kid: Could you count the cats for me? Please. Shu: Leave it to me. Living Mural Kid: Thanks. Good luck. Living Mural Man: I've been those kids father since we were drawn. I've loved them from the beginning. Living Mural Kid: The eternal engine powers all of the machines that fly in the sky. I'm a know-it-all. (Find a cat...) Jiro: So this is one of the mural cats we're looking for. Let's keep a count. Shu: Got it. This is number 1. (Next cat...) Shu: Um...did we count this one yet? (Count this cat? YES/NO) Shu: All right! 2nd cat counted. (When you come across the sparkling item on the ground...) Shu: What's that? Jiro: I bet it's something that we would have no idea how to use. Kluke: I bet there's someone who would know, though. Jiro: You're probably right. Let's take it along. (YOU GOT THE MYSTERIOUS PIECE ALPHA.) (Count all 8 cats and return to the kid...) Living Mural Kid: Did you count all the cats? Shu: Yeah, there are 8 cats. Living Mural Kid: Oh, thank you so much. Living Mural Woman: Thank you for helping out my son like that. Please get a token of my gratitude from the machine in the center. (Get Power Lv3 Weak) (As you leave the village...) Living Mural Man: Wait a moment, please. If you're going into the valley, I'd like to ask a favor of you. Somewhere in the valley is the crumbling tree. I can't move, so I'd like you to go and get it for me. Shu: If I find it I'll bring it back. Living Mural Man: Also, in the valley is an extremely violent, giant bird that is engulfed in flames. It's really weak against wind, but if it's attacked by wind it flies into a rage. If you want to have a chance, wind might be your best bet. But, don't forget the crumbling tree. ========================================================================== Mural Valley East - bd017 ========================================================================== (Fight and defeat the giant bird.) (Make your way and a bridge collapses.) Shu: The bridge...! Jiro: It looks like we can go down below using the broken bridge. Kluke: We could also use the bridge up ahead to get back to the village. Shu: Guess we have no choice but to take the long way. (Obtain the crumbling tree) Jiro: This is the crumbling tree that the mural was searching for. Shu: It sure is. Let's take it back to him. (Back in the village...) Shu: Is this what you were searching for? Living Mural Man: Yes! Yes! Let me see the inside of it. Ok. I see. Thank you. That's enough. Inside was the Armor Lv3 Reflect spell. (Back in the east valley..) Shu: It's a grade-up box. Jiro: Wait, Shu. Shu: What? Jiro: This grade-up box is different from the others we've come across. Shu: But it looks the same. Jiro: This time, if we put in three items we'll get one new item. Shu: So we need three items. Ok. Let's give it a try. (What will you put in? Ruby/Saphire/Amethyst) (Leave the valley...) ========================================================================== Road to Gibral - bd018 ========================================================================== Shu: This is the road to Gibral. Jiro: Let's take it. Hopefully we can get ahead of them. Kluke: What's wrong? Jiro: There's no sign that people have gone through here. Shu: So, the villagers haven't gotten this far yet. Jiro: Probably. If their going to Gibral, this is the only road, I think. Marumaro: What if you're wrong? Kluke: Don't say things like that. Jiro: What should we do? If we head back towards the village, we might be able to meet up with them. Shu: Yeah, let's look for my grandpa and the others. Marumaro: All right! Move out! Wait, what's your grandpa look like? Shu: You just follow us, OK? (At the pool of water...) Jiro: I can feel a magical power surrounding this water. (HP/MP restored) Shu: Everyone! Jiro: Something's not right. Kluke: That's a monster!! Shu: Grandpa! Jiro: Mom, Dad! Fushira: Shu! THE BLUE SHADOWS RISE FROM THE CHARACTERS' BACKS. Villager: What's that? Shu: If you want to fight someone, fight me! Jiro's Father: Jiro! Jiro's Mother: Jiro, behind you...that shadow... Jiro: It's OK, don't worry. Shu: Come on guys, let's do this. (Defeat the monsters) Shu: Here comes another one. (During the battle...) Kluke: It's really planted firm. Our attacks are having almost no effect. Marumaro: Then we should do something to keep him from planting his feet, Kluke. Jiro: Ah! We should do something to make his legs unstable. (After the battle...) Jiro: So you're probably surprised. Shu: Grandpa... Jiro's Mother: Is it really you? Fushira: Good job meeting up with us. Shu: That over there is Marumaro. He's a Devy. He's got a connection to Nene, too. Hey, Marumaro, say hi to everyone. Marumaro: Ok! I'll do the Devy greeting dance! MARUMARO DANCES AND THE BABY STARTS TO CRY. Shu: Marumaro, don't upset the baby! Marumaro: Sorry. I'll do the Devy apology dance. (Talk to everyone) Fushira: I was sure that you would read that letter. The others thought that the Land Shark had gotten you. I never thought that for a minute. You wanna know why? Because you're MY grandson. I know you never lose heart and no matter what yell, "I'll never lose!" Kluke: Families are great things... If my parents were alive, they'd probably have been worried about me too, right? Marumaro: Hey, did everyone love my dance? Landan: Shu, you are unbelievable. I thought you were dead, but you come back able to use magic. Lailala: I'm glad you're safe. Everyone is so happy that you made it back. You've encouraged everyone so much. Morizon: Hey, Shu, nice night, huh? Toyode: Don't worry your grandfather too much, Shu. Lao: To tell you the truth, I didn't want to leave the village. But, we had no choice. Balt: So you saved Polt, huh? I was relieved when I heard that my brother was safe. Thank you. Do you need any supplies? (In Jiro's family's tent...) Jiro's Father: Oh, you want to know about this? Jiro: Yes. Mom, too. JIRO'S MOTHER AND FATHER'S HANDS ARE BANDAGED. Jiro's Mother: It was after you disappeared into the ground with the Land Shark. Jiro's Father: Your mother dug and dug and dug, even after she broke off her nails. She thought you had been buried alive and was trying to rescue you. Jiro's Mother: Everyone said to stop, but I didn't listen. Jiro's Father: I brought a shovel, but I put too much strength into it and it broke in half. Jiro: I'm sorry I made you so worried. Jiro's Mother: Just the fact that you're alive is enough. Just please stop with the dangerous stuff. Jiro: Mother, there's something that I have to do. Jiro's father: Jiro, I know you can do it. Jiro: Shu, can't you sleep? Jiro's Mother: If Jiro was as tough as you, Shu, we could relax a little. Jiro's Father: Shu, please take care of Jiro. Minera: Gibral is a really big city. I'm gonna eat a big meal, take a bath, relax and forget everything. Shipher: Camping everyday is so much fun! Fana: Once we get to Gibral, I'm taking a bath. Lizen: I had never planned on leaving the village. But, such is life. Kolte: Someday we'll be able to go back to Tata Village, right? Elder Koppose: Shu, I'm glad you're safe. We decided to go to Gibral because Tata Village is now uninhabitable. Fushira: I suppose we should hit the hay. Kluke: Good idea. We have an early start tomorrow. Fushira: Just a little farther and we'll be at Gibral. I feel kind of useless always having to be rescued. Shu: Don't worry about it Grandpa, we'll protect everyone. We've all gotten used to using our magic. Watch. SHU SUMMONS HIS DRAGON. Fushira: That really is something. THE NEXT MORNING... Let's make a break in their group for the carriage to get through. Kluke: So we're bait, right? Shu: Grandpa, get the carriage out of here while we hold them back. Shu: That's right. Jiro: Thanks to King Gibral. Marumaro: And Lord Zola... Shu: "Lord" Zola? Marumaro: Hey, hey, hey, Lord Zola... Zola: Yeah, um, whatever. Shu: He's so odd. Jiro: Zola's shadow takes the shape of a bat. I've heard that the Devy are really interested in creatures, like bats, that are suppossed to be evil. Kluke: That may be, but it's also that Zola is really cool. Zola: You guys are really something. Shu: You, too. Zola: Please get some rest for the time being. Soldier: Welcome to Gibral. ========================================================================== Gibral Castle Town - bd019 ========================================================================== (Talk to the various people wandering around) Woman: Right now I'm trying to find myself. Lao: Everyone else is in the Inn. Don't worry about us, ok? Pedestrian: You came to Gibral today? Well it sure was nice weather for it. My accent? Well, I came from a country far, far away. You wouldn't have heard of it. Pedestrian: When I heard what was going on in the outside world, I got all anxious and worried. You be careful, OK? Pedestrian: I love to fight. Ask anyone, there's nothing I can't do. Pedestrian: I know you escaped danger to come here, so you probably don't want to hear this, but Gibral isn't all that safe, you know. This castle is under constant threat of tsunamis. These castle walls are a sort of protection against the coming water. Pedestrian: This is Gibral Castle Town. I love it, from the fountain to the castle. Pedestrian: The tsunamis are really scary. I've thought about moving, but I like this country. Pedestrian: You guys are the ones with the magic shadows, right? I have my own, too. It's called eyeshadow. Swordsman: All the boys in this country dream of joining the Swordsman Division one day. Since King Gibral started his reign, the Swordsman Division became quite the big stars. Swordsman: Gibral is a country with traditions that have continued since ancient times. The current king is still young, but is incredibly popular with the residents. Boy: When I get older I want to join the Swordsman Division. They're sooo cool! Pedestrian: The Swordsman Division protect King Gibral. The leader of the division is Zola, who is really more of a mercenary. Fat Woman: What? What are you staring at? In the old days, people used to call me Little Gibral Town. Pedestrian: I know you came from somewhere else, but this place is also plagued by the purple cloud. There's no place to hide. Boy Waiting For His Father: Papa's in the Item Shop. I wish he'd hurry it up. Man Keeping His Family Waiting: I want this so much! But if I buy it, there goes all of our money for the month. Customer: You never know what's going to happen, so we should buy things when we have the chance to buy them. Customer: I get excited looking at all these things for sale. Old Man: This hill is tough on us old folks. Boy: Someday I want to go on an adventure, too. Girl: What do you want? You're about 10 years too young to be trying to pick me up. Soldier: Gibral has a mighty army that keeps the peace in the outerlying areas. Googo Tribesperson: This isn't a place for children. Go on home to your mommies. Googo: Hey, you! Shu: Yeah... Googo: I don't know where you're from, but keep busting into our hideout and we're gonna have trouble. Leave before I hurt ya. Family Looking For a Room: We're thinking about moving here, but the rent is really high in the Castle Town. Salesman: Are you looking for a room? I recommend this one, it's a steal. Kluke: It is a nice room. Salesman: Ah, as wise as she is cute. How about it? I can give you a good deal on it. Shu: Sorry, but we're in the middle of an adventure. So, we won't need a room for a while. Salesman: What! The young princess here won't be moving in? What a terrible world! Pedestrian: Lately it seems danger is lurking everywhere... Pedestrian Boy: They say kids aren't allowed in the busy part of town. So, where can I go? (Inside the Vase Workshop...) Shopper: I came to buy a vase, but they're all pricey. Master: I'm the master of this here vase shop. If you need anything I'll make it for ya. Apprentice: Art is an explosion. Can you feel it? I'm a ceramic artist. Well, I'm still an apprentice, but... (Talk to the Devy at the furnace...) Marumaro: Tsubokyu...Is that you, Tsubokyu. From Lago Village? Tsubokyu: Marumaro, funny meeting you here. I'm here doing vase making training. I heard that there was a sickness going around the village. Is everyone OK? Marumaro: It didn't look good, but everyone's fine now. Don't worry. Tsubokyu: That's great news. Now I can concentrate on my vase making without worry. Sister: Hey, who is the prettiest of us three sisters? Sister: It's me, of course. Googo: Hmm? Something strange about me? I'm from the Googo clan, descendants of the giant god. Pedestrian: Ah! I just stepped in dog crap! Haha, that was a joke. I made it up myself. I rhymed step and crap. Maybe it was too high brow for you. ** Note: In Japanese, the words for "step on" and "crap" sound the same. They are both "fun" (sounds like "foon"). ** Pedestrian: Did you see that Googo Clansman? They're huge! They're also supposed to have superhuman strength. Many of them live in this city. They've had an exchange with Gibral since the old days. Pedestrian: Gibral has a lot of water, which makes it easy to live here. Pedestrian: You can buy accesories and spell books in that shop there. And the girl that works there is really cute. (In the shop...) Soldier: There's a big plan in the works. I'm here researching magics that we can use in the plan. There are so many, though. I wish I could use them, too. (Spell List) White Lv3 Riraida 2350 Gold (Revive a fallen member) White Lv3 Cancel 2100 Gold (Cancel a "Charge") Black Lv3 Water-ra 2150 Gold Power Lv3 Slow 2200 Gold Armor Lv3 Shield-da 2400 Gold (Raise physical defense) Part-time Girl: Can I help you find anything? If you're window shopping, please go home. Accesory Shopkeeper: According to the old documents, the ancients put on accesories before going into battle. But, most normal people can't use these accesories to their fullest. Only those with a high combination category are able to. (Accesory List) Gibral Necklace 1400 Gold Gibral Earring 650 Gold Customer: I've heard that the accesories in this shop surpass armor in their power. Especially the Gibral Necklace. It can't hurt to equip it if you can. Pedestrian: I'm debating about whether to buy a souvenier or not. Pedestrian: This is an abandoned house. Please stay out. Pedestrian: My feet may move slowly, but they still move. And as long as they do, I'll be happy. Pedestrian: King Gibral is so cool and popular, but I worry about his political skills. He's not really my type. Souvenier Dealer: Please buy some of Gibral's special souveniers. I have ceramics and detailed wares, also. (In the accesory shop) Customer: This shop will make magic rings for those who are interested. If you make a nice ring and give it as a present, no girl can refuse. Shu: A magic ring... Jiro: Give it a girl... Kluke: How romantic. I want to see! Customer: But good luck getting them to make you one. It may be just a rumor. Accesory Dealer: My goods are all high-quality and I only sell them to people I think are worthy. I have to worry about my brand's image, you see. Come back when you're high class. Sheep: You met my fellow Sheep? We are spread all over the world. Flower Dealer: Aren't these flowers beautiful? Please take your time looking at them. Customer: Flowers live such a short life....don't you think so, too? Landon: Ah! The heroes of Tata Village have arrived. Shu: I wouldn't call us heroes, yet. Your baby looks like she's doing really well. Lailala: Thanks, Shu. Fushira is in the Inn up ahead. Pedestrian: King Gibral is so cool. King Gibral goods are really popular right now, too. (In the Bodyguard's Office...) Temporary Bodyguard: I'll fully protect your body. Temporary Bodyguard: I'll closely protect your attractive body. Temporary Bodyguard: Welcome to the Bodyguard's Office. Bodyguard's Office President: Hey there cuties. Welcome to the Temporary Bodyguard's Office. Shu: Bodyguard... temp agency? President: That's right. We are dispatched to protect your beautiful body. We will spend all of our waking moments making sure no harm comes to those attractive bodies. We will go all over the world. What do you think? Shall I dispatch some bodyguards to go with you? Kluke: Um, no thanks. President: That's too bad. We'll be here if you need us. Pedestrian: I'm on a diet with my sister. Pedestrian: I'm on a diet. I'm so hungry... Candy Dealer: Candy is a symbol of happiness. Pedestrian: Dessert is a necessary part of city living. Girl: *sob* He's picking on me. Boy: Don't look at me. She just started crying. Fushira: Shu, over here! Shu: Grandpa! Fushira: What took you so long? All the other villagers have left already. Kluke: Where did they go? Fushira: The village chief and some others went towards the castle. They were going to ask King Gibral something. The rest are sightseeing. But, this is the Inn that we're all staying in. Jiro: So, we should come back here? Fushira: That's right. Have a good time looking around the city. Pedestrian: How's the adventure going? If you're tired, this Inn is a great place to rest. Pedestrian: Since you're here in Gibral, you have to try the food. It's full of superb delicacies from both the land and sea. Pedestrian: I hate water. I hate the tsunami that took him.... Uncle Nothing: Nothing! This world is full of nothing. Sometimes it seems like the nothing will break us. To those people I offer salvation in the form of...myself. I am the Nothing man. If you have found more than 50 nothing points in the world, I'll give you a great present. Do you want to count how many points you have? You have...???points. I'll give you this present for clearing 50 points. (Leather Belt) I'll give you this for clearing 100 points. (Stomach Band) I'll give you this for clearing 200 points. (Pointy Shoes) Together we can rid this world of all nothing. Let's do our best! Soldier: This is Gibral Castle. Tata Villagers are free to enter. ========================================================================== Gibral Castle - bd020 ========================================================================== Kluke: Shifer! And your puppy, John! Are you taking him for a walk? Shifer: Yep! And John found this old man. Old Man: It looks like he's taking a liking to me. Marumaro: Popular with the puppy and the ladies. Doing good, grandpa. Old Man: It's nice to be surrounded by so much youth. Let's meet again. I'll try and help you out if you need it. (In the castle...) Soldier: My descendants used to work for the King as well. Jiro's Mother: Gibral Castle is really something. It would be great to live in a place like this. Jiro's Father: The Gibral royal family are extremely powerful. Soldier: I can't tell you the special plan. Soldier: Right now we're talking about the important new plan. Soldier: There are many people in the Great Hall today. Soldiers: Recently, there have been more and more monsters. Soldiers: I wonder if I can get a raise. Soldier: I finally fulfilled my dream and became a Gibral soldier. Maid: You're from Tata Village? The adults are taking a tour of the castle. Swordsman: If you're looking for the basement research room, it's through that door. Soldier: Take the stairs if you want to get to the 2nd floor. Kluke: Mr. Morizon. What are you doing? Morizon: I was just looking at this portrait of King Gibral. Marumaro: He's just about as cool as I am. Morizon: King Gibral is still young, yet he's a brilliant leader. I'm sure he will be able to help us. (In the kitchen...) Chef Chinmi: Ah! What brings you to the kitchen? Shu: We smelled something good. Chef: Well, we are working on a huge feast. Please look forward to it. #1 Apprentice: I'm the #1 chef's apprentice. I can prepare the food exactly the same as my master can. Part-timer: We're all just part-timers, but we're serious about our work. Maid: The longer we all work here, the more we start to resemble each other. I'd like to not come here if I didn't have to. #2 Apprenctice: I'm the #2 apprentice. I'll start to act, think and look like the head chef after a while, though. (On the 2nd Floor...) Soldier: Did you see anything suspicious? Swordsman: This is the Senior Minister's room. Please mind your manners. (In the Senior Minister's room...) Shu: You! You're that old guy that was petting the dog. Minister: I see you made it. I am this country's minister. Are you surprised? Kluke: We are from Tata Village. Please help our people. If possible, we'd like to live there again. Minister: Don't worry about your village. The other ministers are already working on a plan. I heard that you want to meet with the king. Please feel free to do so. (Talk to the soldiers guarding the door..( Soldier: We will escort you to the King's room. (In the King's Room...) Marumaro: Ah! Lord Zola!! Shu: Wait a second. Soldiers: We have escorted Shu and 3 others like you asked. Zola: Thank you. I will take them from here. Let's go. Marumaro: O-kay!! Shu: Ahhhh, I'm really nervous all of a sudden. Jiro: Let's be on our best behavior. Shu: What? Don't worry about that. We're from the country, after all. We don't know any better. Kluke: Don't get defensive. Zola: Your highness, I have brought them before you. King Gibral: You from Tata Village, what are your names? Shu: I'm Shu! Jiro: My name is Jiro, your highness. Kluke: I am Kluke. Marumaro: Marumaro! King Gibral: I'm glad to see that you are well. Shu: You saved our hides, King Gibral. Kluke: (to Shu) You're talking to a king. Couldn't you be a little more polite? King Gibral: It's fine. Please relax. I offered the Inn to your villagers, so everyone can get some rest. But, may I ask, why did you decide on Gibral as your destination? Shu: It's Nene's fault! King Gibral: Nene? Shu: He's the bad guy controlling the Land Shark. Marumaro: And in my village, he hurt all of the people really bad. King Gibral: (to Shu and Marumaro) You two are like brothers. Kluke: Lord Gibral, we'd be happy to fill you in on all the details. Jiro: Please don't take offense at these two. Shu: But to put it simply, that's what happened. Jiro: In Tata Village, once a year, a purple cloud appears and the Land Shark attacks us. Because of that, our village is virtually destroyed. That's why we can't live there any longer. The villagers thought to seek safety in Gibral. King Gibral: Once a year... a purple cloud... Zola: Lord... King Gibral: Yes. Please come with me. (Approach the King) King Gibral: Follow me! OUTSIDE THE CASTLE, BLOCKS OF WATER HOVER IN THE AIR. Shu: What are those? Marumaro: Hey, hey, what are those? Zola: We call them the tsunami nuclei. Shu: Nuclei? What do you mean? King Gibral: Once a year, those nuclei fall to the ground and cause a tidalwave. But, it always occurs with the appearance of the purple cloud. Shu: Purple cloud? Marumaro: It's Nene!! King Gibral: Those waves cause horrible damage to my country and people. However, about 6 months ago, we were finally able to attack and secure one of the airships that appeared from the cloud. Shu: Airship? Kluke: He must mean the Mechat. King Gibral: We have analyzed the ship and have devised a plan to rid ourselves of the purple cloud and the mother ship that appears with it. Shu: Awesome! Let us do it! King Gibral: I was waiting for you to say that. What do you say? Could you join the attack party? You're magic will become a strong ally. Jiro: Of course we'll help. King Gibral: Thank you. (Talk to the King) King Gibral: Once a year, all over the world, various tragedies are occuring. There is no mistake that it's the work of Nene, the one who was attacking your village. We have traveled around to see the damage for ourselves. It was on our return that we came upon you. (Talk to Zola) Marumaro: Lord Zola, are you going to fight with us? Zola: Of course. Shu: Not much of a talker, huh? Marumaro: You don't know anything, do ya Shu? Shu: Huh? Marumaro: Lord Zola is cute when she smiles! (Approach the door) Zola: I was headed to the Basement Research Room myself. I'll see to it that you are granted entry. (In the Bladewarriors Waiting Room...) Bladewarrior: The leader of the Bladewarriors is Lord Zola. She may be a woman, but she's a great leader. Bladewarrior: We are King Gibral's personal protectors. Bladewarrior: Have you been downstairs? You should if you have the chance. Bladewarrior: Hey, we're allowed to have breaks, too. (Downstairs...) Googo Clansman: We Googos fight valiantly at King Gibral's side. (In the Soldier's Waiting Room...) Soldier: I'm on break. Soldier: I wish they'd give us more break time. Soldier: This beast here is a Googo. He's been drafted into service. Googo: Without Googos, Gibral can do nothing! (In the research room...) Researcher: There's junk all over the place. So watch where you step. Soldier: Surprised? This is the Mechat. We succeeded in knocking it out of the sky with a giant arrow. Unfortunately, the arrow firing mechanism was destroyed by the mother ship. Head Researcher: I am the head researcher. Here we research all the mysteries of the world. The world is full of more mysteries everyday. That's why we are here. So, what mystery is troubling you today? Shu: Mystery? Hmm, well, the item that we picked up in Mural Valley is pretty strange. Head Researcher: Please let me have a look at it. YOU HAND OVER THE "MYSTERIOUS PART ALPHA". Head Researcher: Hmm... I see... This part... is the height of ancient technology. It was so powerful that it was broken into 3 parts; Alpha, Beta and Gamma. If you could find them and bring them here, I'm sure I could construct something from them. If you should come across any more mysteries, be sure to bring them here. I'll be here. Researcher: Lord Zola is in the back room. Researcher: Luckily, this ship wasn't damaged except for the hole we made in it. After we salvaged it, we took it apart and put the pieces in the back room. We're analyzing composition of the inner system as we speak. (In the back room...) Researcher: I was researching the ancient texts and I found a strange technique called the "Barri-Barrier". It emits a light that can cause damage. But, you don't get the experience points from the monsters that you topple. Only the shadows grow stronger. Researcher: The Infinite Engine uses no fuel, yet never stops moving. It was created by magic from ancient technology. Researcher: That blue barrier was created by the ancients. We're searching for a way to penetrate it, though. Researcher: I believe that we can use the power of the Infinite Engine to analyze the tsunami nuclei. Zola: We'll use the Infinite Engine to destroy the tsunami nuclei. Doing that will probably call the mother ship to us. Shu: Woah!!!! Jiro: But, how are you going to fight the mother ship once it comes? Zola: Wait and see. (Talk to Zola again...) Zola: The research is proceeding satisfactorily. We just have to wait for the right time. (Upon leaving the room...) Zola: I'm going back to my room. Will you join me? (YES/NO) (In Zola's room...) Marumaro: Lord Zola...You're magic is so awesome! You're so awesome! But, hey, did you get your magic from Nene, too? Or, like Shu, did somebody tell you to swallow the light balls? Zola: Um, no... I... I'm the same as you guys. Some strange voice I didn't know ordered me to swallow the ball of light. Shu: Where? We were in Nene's castle in the sky. Zola: No, I've never met anyone named Nene. The first time I heard that name was in your stories. I...(remembers a battle)... sensed my own lack of experience. And, suddenly, time stopped. I was the only one who could move freely. That was when the ball of light appeared and the voice echoed in my head. "Swallow the ball of light. In it resides the power to repel evil.", it said. Marumaro: Cool!!! Kluke: We know, we know. Shu: That voice that spoke to you...do you know whose it was? Zola: No, you? Shu: We don't know. But, I have a feeling that it wasn't Nene. Jiro: It could be that someone other than Nene is... Zola: One other, huh? Marumaro: Whatever. It doesn't matter. Jiro: It's definitely not good. Somebody is making us use magic. There's no denying that. (Talk to Zola again...) Zola: Feel free to stroll around the castle. If you're tired, please rest in the Inn. (In the castle courtyard...) Shifer: I want to see that old man again. Shu: We met him in the castle. He's one of this country's Ministers! Shifer: Minister? I don't know what that means, but he must be real important. Minister... what a nice name. (In the Inn..) Inn Keeper: Tata Village residents can rest here for free. Lailala: I had such a great day today. I was a little worried at first, though. Landon: It's been so long since I've been able to have fun with just my family. But, now I'm ready to hit the hay. Balt: What a great garden t
